Green Tea Side Effects

Green Tea is a special and essential beverage all over the world and especially in countries like Japan and China. This is become just a second drink next to water which mean to say its popularity. Researches have been going extensively these days to find its more benefits to human health and also its side effects. None of the things can be free from side effects in common. But Green tea is said to be completely free from side effects. How far is this claim true? Is a question really thought of? As a user of green tea or a person of interest in knowing some special facts, this will be a good topic. Can green tea be completely free as all tea will have caffeine and is it free from caffeine?

Green tea has some side effects caused only from caffeine. The irony is green tea is preferred as a substitute to coffee which is highly rich in caffeine and has to be avoided. This is present in negligible quantities in green tea and can be taken without any kind of fear. But one thing is true that among coffees and Teas what ever the varieties they can be, the user can not get rid of caffeine completely i.e. hundred percent. Caffeine is said to be present in very mild quantities and persons sensitive to caffeine are always advised to stay away from green tea and their substitutes.

As per the researches a cup of green tea is said to contain about 30 mg of caffeine. Still green tea is vary gentle on body and never changes heart beat rate as like coffee in turn it boosts energy. Therefore user can take up to 3 to 4 cups of brewed green tea or its supplements for complete safety from caffeine and its adverse affects. The side effects experienced if more than 4 cups of green tea taken in a day are irregular heart beat, headache, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite or any other side effects related with caffeine. These side effects are easily prone on people allergic or sensitive to caffeine.

Care to be taken

Any one suffering from weak heart, kidney problems, panic attacks or anxiety or sensitive stomach should use green tea cautiously with consultation from a physician. Green tea is not as simple as any one in normal could think of though these said side effects are experienced in only few cases still can turn to be dangers in some. If you are a pregnant better avoid or limit yourself to maximum of 3 cups if you cross the limit there can be risk involving late first or second trimester miscarriage. If breast feeding mother then if taken in more than said quantities green tea may show its side effects on the baby disturbing his activities and especially sleeping habits. There is nothing to panic for all the above said side effects of the world famous beverage this can happen if over done with the drink. Green tea has proven to be non toxic in acute dosages also. Not to forget the dictum healthiest thing can turn to poison if over done.

People very sensitive to caffeine should switch to a green tea supplements. For example, two 250 mg pills contain only about 5 to 6 mg of caffeine.

You should not drink excessive amounts of brewed green tea. The usual recommendation is 3 to 4 cups of tea a day.

If you drink more than 5 to 6 cups of green tea daily you may experience sleeplessness, irregular heart beat, dizziness, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, loss of appetite or other caffeine-related side effects.

You should use green tea cautiously if you have a weak heart, tendency to anxiety or panic attacks, kidney disease or a sensitive stomach.

You should restrict your green tea intake to 3 cups or switch to a green tea supplements if you are pregnant. Drinking more than 6 cups of green tea a day can increase the risk of late first or second trimester miscarriage.

If you are currently breastfeeding it is strongly suggested that you use only green tea supplements, because caffeine may affect a baby’s sleeping habit.
