The Negative effects of Body Art (Tattoos)

Imagine only having one shirt to wear for the rest of your life, it would be kind of weird wouldn’t it? Well that’s what tattoos are like, ink scarred into your flesh for the rest of your life. The word Tattoo comes from the Tahitian word “Tatu”, which is an indelible mark or design fixed upon the body by the insertion of pigment under the skin”(Clark, 2005, para. 1). These days, this is done by using a Rapid-Injection-Electrical device that punctures the dermal layer of the skin at a rapid pace, producing a design. In this essay paper I will explain the Negative effects that come with getting tattoos, such as, Health risks, Society’s view, and financial harm.

Good health is very important. That’s why you should be very careful when deciding to get a tattoo. Visit a range of studios, make sure the studio you choose is up to basic health standards. Make sure the studio you decide to go to has an autoclave or medical sterilization machine (uses very high heat to steam the equipment), and the needles are individual packaged, sealed and dated. Unlicensed artists who complete an apprenticeship do a lot of tattoos you see these days, so be careful which studio you go to. Tattoo inks are made of dyes created from a range of metals, which are mostly toxic. The most common effects of tattoos are hypersensitivity to the red dyes (cinnabar), and photosensitivity to the yellow pigments (cadmium, which is another toxic metal). There has never been a documentation of anyone getting cancer from tattoos, but dark inks can make melanoma, skin cancer, harder to detect. Another well-known infection from tattoos is Hepatitis. In one study, tattooing accounted for 41% of Hepatitis C infections (Clark, 2005, para. 15). The only cases known about HIV are of two men who received prison tattoos. Well-known signs of an infection after getting a tattoo are high fever, puss leaking from the wound, and red streaks extending from the tattoo. “Infection that is not properly tended to can result in serious health consequences and even death”(Hudson, 2005, para. 1).

Britney Spears Shave Head

Bald and Broken: Inside Britney's Shaved Head
Shaving Off Her Hair and Tattooing Her Body May Be Spears' Way of Finding a Fresh Start

It wasn't long ago that few thought or cared about what went on inside the mind of the pretty, perky pop star. Now, after she shaved her head in a bizarre episode that culminates a months-long saga of controversial behavior, it's the question being asked by her fans, her foes and the general public: What was she thinking?

While psychologists and those around Spears speculate about the cause of her downward spiral, two things seems clear: The one-time pop princess is acting out and in dire need of help.

On Friday evening, Spears walked into Esther's Hair Salon in Tarzana, Calif., reportedly complained that her hair extensions were too tight, and asked owner Esther Tognozzi to shave her head.

"She sat in my chair and said, 'I want my hair shaved off.' I said well I'm not doing it," Tognozzi told the syndicated entertainment news show "Extra."

"Of course I tried to talk her out of it," Tognozzi continued. "I said, 'You know maybe you're having a hormonal moment or something, and maybe tomorrow you'll feel differently about it. Let's talk about this."

Tognozzi said she was talking to Spears' bodyguard when the pop star grabbed the buzzer and began buzzing off her own hair.

"She buzzed off all her own hair and I just cleaned it up when she was done with it, Spear said.

According to Tognozzi, Spears showed little emotion as she chopped off her brunette locks, except for tears in her eyes and voicing fear for her mother's reaction when she looked at her newly shorn head in the mirror.

"The only emotions that she showed was when she said her mom was going to be mad that she was doing this to her hair and she got a little bit teary eyed," she said. "Then she all of a sudden realized what she did."

Tognozzi said she tried to talk to Spears about her kids but that "she wasn't very talkative."

The salon owner speculated that maybe Spears is on the cutting edge of a new trend.

"I said to her now all these kids are gonna be following her and shaving her hair and what did she think of that?" Tognozzi said. "I told her she's lucky she has a nice-shaped head. She looked cute. She's a cute little girl."

The strands of hair Spears left on the salon floor were posted on e-Bay. There are reports the bidding reached $1 million before the auction was removed from the Web site, because the hair could not be authenticated.

After leaving the salon, Spears headed to the Body & Soul tattoo parlor in nearby Sherman Oaks, Calif. According to Us Weekly, she got two tattoos there, one on her hip and one on her wrist.

When a Body & Soul employee looked at the pop star in disbelief and asked why she shaved her head, Spears said, "I don't want anyone touching me. I'm tired of everybody touching me," Us Weekly reports.

Ji-Lo Perfect Body ( Hot )

Lopez: "My body is not what it used to be"

Actress and singer Jennifer Lopez has recently revealed that she doesn't like her stomac
h at all, because it's not perfectly flat.

Lopez, 36, declared her body doesn't look anymore like in her 20s, and she's having issues about it. But despite that, she loves it and she's happy she got good genes from her parents.

As she says: "I'm very lucky: I've got good genes, and I've been athle
tic my whole life. I'm ahead of the game - I'm more in shape than I would be if I didn't do what I did.
But it's tough, and I do have issues. My body is not what it used
to be; my stomach is not flat. People are like: 'Your stomach is flat!' But I'm like: 'It used to be really flat, like it was concave.'

"But I love all my body. I thank God for my body. It hasn't betrayed me.
I was never raised to be, like, pencil-thin. You know, we saw it in magazines, and everybody's like: 'Oh, that's the ideal.'

"But the women around me - my mother and my aunts and the people in our neighborhood - they were all fuller. They were normal woman and they were beautiful. So I didn't ever feel like I had to be anything but that, which was myself", Jenn
ifer explained her attitude.

Fat of Kelly Clarkson ???

Are you kidding me? Kelly Clarkson is fat now? Well, Star is reporting that the 5′4″, 150-pound Clarkson is desperate to lose 25 pounds before her summer tour kicks off in mid-July and before the release of her eagerly anticipated album, My December.

“She’s feeling really down on herself,” a source close to Kelly says. “She feels pressure from her label, her handlers and her friends to lose weight.

She’s always moaning about how she can’t find a boyfriend, and she blames this dry spell on her weight.”

The source notes that Kelly might feel better about herself if she tackled her body the way she approaches her career: with consistent hard work. “Kelly is the ultimate yo-yo dieter,” says the insider, who adds that crash diets have never worked for the singer.

“Sometimes she’s in the studio for 14 hours, and the only food she eats is fast food – and potato chips and candy bars.”

Kelly gets energized by drinking soda “nonstop,” according to one source. “She can down eight cans of soda in one afternoon,” the friend says.

David Beckham Health Ultimate

Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham has teamed up with Go3, a food manufacturer, to design a healthy line of alternative food for children. Beckham, who lends his name and face to many projects, helped introduce the line at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

This new line includes omelets, fish fingers and pasta. Beckham told the crowd that the reason for backing this project was:

“As a dad I know how hard it is to get kids to eat the right things. I also know as a footballer, how important it is to eat the right things to perform well, so I think Go3 is a great way to help families take some small steps to be fit and healthy at affordable prices.”

For now the product will only be available in the UK but at some point will be introduced to the U.S., which seems fitting since the Beckham’s now reside in L.A.

Tiger Woods Wining US Open Despite Knee Injury

Tiger Woods had reconstructive surgery on his left knee Tuesday in Utah to repair a torn ligament, and doctors said it was “highly unlikely” there would be any long-term effects.

It was the second time in 10 weeks Woods had surgery on his knee, this time on his anterior cruciate ligament.

“We were confident going into this surgery, and I am pleased with the results,” Dr. Thomas D. Rosenberg said in a statement released by IMG, Woods’ management company.

“There were no surprises during the procedure, and as we have said, with the proper rehabilitation and training, it is highly unlikely that Mr. Woods will have any long-term effects as it relates to his career.”

The surgery came one week after Woods went 91 holes at Torrey Pines to win the U.S. Open in a playoff over Rocco Mediate, revealing later that he also had a double stress fracture in his left tibia.

The surgery, performed by Rosenberg and Dr. Vernon J. Cooley in Park City, was the fourth time Woods has had surgery on his left knee. He had a benign tumor removed in 1994, and he had benign cysts removed in 2002, along with fluid around the ACL.

Woods said he tore his ACL while jogging last year after the British Open, but tried to make it through the end of this season without surgery. Two days after his runner-up finish at the Masters, he had surgery to clean out cartilage in his left knee.

The world’s No. 1 player announced last week that he would miss the rest of the season, which includes two more major championships and the Ryder Cup.

“It was important to me to have the surgery as soon as possible so that I could begin the rehabilitation process,” Woods said in a statement. “I am very appreciative of Dr. Rosenberg and Dr. Cooley and his staff’s guidance and look forward to working with them through the necessary rehabilitation and training.

“I look forward to working hard at my rehabilitation over the coming months and returning to the PGA Tour healthy next year.”

He did not say when he would start his rehab or any timetable for his return.

Michael Jackson Has Big Vitiligo (Skin cancer)

Michael Jackson’s skin condition has been reported to be vitiligo. Vitiligo causes the the skin to loose it’s pigmentation resulting in white patches.

There is no known cause for vitiligo though doctors and scientists suspect is may be due to an immune system disorder. It does seem to be more common in people with other autoimmune diseases such as lupus. It most often starts as it did with Michael Jackson before the age of 40.

Michael Jackson’s skin condition began as most vitiligo cases do with skin areas exposed to the sun. In his case, it is most often reported to have been his hand – hence the trademark sequin glove used to hide the patches and also to protect the skin from the sun. Other common sun-exposed areas affected besides the hands include the feet, arms, face and lips.

Vitiligo generally appears in one of three patterns:
Focal. Depigmentation is limited to one or a few areas of your body.
Segmental. Loss of skin color occurs on only one side of your body.
Generalized. Pigment loss is widespread across many parts of your body, often symmetrically.

The natural course of vitiligo is difficult to predict. The depigmented patches can stop forming without treatment, but most often the white areas spread and can eventually involve most of the surface of your skin.

It is important if you have the same skin problem as Michael Jackson (the vitiligo) to use sunscreen and protective clothing to protect your skin.

Treatments for vitiligo include medicines, light therapy and surgery. Not every treatment is right for everyone. Many have side effects. Some take a long time. Some do not always work.

Vitiligo affects all races, but may be more noticeable and disfiguring in people with darker skin. Vitiligo usually starts as small areas of pigment loss that spread with time. These changes in your skin can result in stress and worries about your appearance.

There is no cure for vitiligo. The goal of treatment is to stop or slow the progression of pigment loss and, if you desire, attempt to return some color to your skin.

You should see a physician for diagnosis and treatment if areas of you skin, hair, or eyes lose coloring. Though no cure exists for vitiligo, there are treatments available to help slow and sometimes stop the process of depigmentation.

Medical treatment begins with self-care steps, such as using sunscreen. Use of cosmetic camouflage cream may improve the appearance of your skin.

Treatment for vitiligo may take as long as six to 18 months, and you may have to try more than one treatment before you find the one that works best for you. You may be prescribed topical corticosteroid therapy or topical immunomodulators or photochemotherapy or oral psoralen photochemotherapy (oral PUVA) or Narrowband ultraviolet B (UVB) therapy. Sometimes the best option is to attempt to depigment the remaining skin, especially if your vitiligo covers more than half your skin.

Vitiligo treatment choices are best discussed with your dermatologist. Remember to look for and seek comfort in support groups. Remember you share the disorder of vitiligo with Michael Jackson.

Eliminate Depression With 8 Simple Steps

1. Eat the blues

What goes in eventually comes out, and eating the wrong food can bring on the wrong mood. While eating will help keep your mind and body in shape, there are a few 'miracle' foods that can help lift that dark cloud.
Brazil nuts: these are a good source of selenium, an antioxidant mineral that can cause you to feel depressed when levels in your body are low. Avocados are also a good source of selenium.
Kiwifruit: rich in vitamin C, this antioxidant fruit will not only boost your immune system but also your well being.
Bananas: two ripe bananas help to increase the body's levels of serotonin, the brain chemical that brightens your mood.
Chilli: the substance that makes chillies hot, capsicum, helps stimulate the release of feel-good endorphins in the brain and well, have you ever seen a depressed Mexican?

2. Drink green tea

Green tea contains high levels of the bioflavonoid quercetin. Bioflavonoids are antioxidants that help to fight depression as well as protect against cancer and heart disease. Take note from the amount of green tea that is drunk in the Far East where there is a low rate of mental and physical illness.

3. Eat turnips

We live in quite a high-pressure day and age and for many people the end of year, and Christmas and New Year in particular, can also be very stressful times. Eat plenty of green vegetables rich in nutrients to boost your mood. Try turning to turnips in your cooking, or other root vegetables such as swedes, which are rich in vitamin C and an antioxidant that has proven to help those who are prone to bouts of depression.

4. Vitamins and minerals

As well as incorporating more of the foods already suggested, you may want to take vitamin and mineral supplements to support your immune system.
Iron: helps to produce serotonin, the brain chemical antidote to feeling down.
Vitamin C: when you're depressed your body is low in vitamin C, and because this is a vitamin that isn't stored in the body you may need to maximise your daily intake.
Zinc: another essential mineral for the production of serotonin.
Selenium: this antioxidant mineral has been found to be in low levels in those people suffering depression.
B vitamins: these help to support the nervous system and are needed for production of serotonin, especially B6.

5. Alternative answers

Known as the sunshine herb, St John's wort is the most commonly used herbal remedy for mild to moderate depression remedy and however, if you are taking other medication, consult your doctor. It is also recommended that those with fair skin shouldn't sunbathe when taking St John's wort. Kava and valerian both act to soothe and calm as well as promoting natural sleep.

6. Get moving

Exercise is the most effective antidepressant but requires more effort! It encourages the release of 'feel-good' endorphins into the body, boosting your mood and lifting spirits. Try strength-training routines such as weightlifting, or aerobic activity such as reasonably feast walking, jogging, aerobics, cycling, swimming or tennis. Just half an hour of moderate exercise three times a week or 20 minutes five times a week will show you the difference.

7. Steer away from

Alcohol: it's a depressant that reduces blood sugar levels.
Caffeine: as a mood enhancer it can make a bad mood feel even worse. Instead, drink fruit juices like orange juice which is rich in vitamin C, or water, which will flush your kidneys of any toxins from your body and make you feel more upbeat.

8. Try aromatherapy

Sprinkle a few drops of the following essential oils into a bath or a scent burner to calm all around you. Clary sage, jasmine, rose, rosewood, sandalwood, ylang ylang are all known to help relieve depression. Take yourself down to your local massage centre for an aromatherapy massage and your masseuse will ask you what you wish the massage to achieve and use the appropriate scented oils.
Warning: if you are pregnant, consult your GP before using any aromatherapy products.

Swine Flue Symptoms

What is the swine flu?

The swine influenza A (H1N1) virus that has infected humans in the U.S. and Mexico is a novel influenza A virus that has not previously been identified in North America. This virus is resistant to the antiviral medications amantadine (Symmetrel) and rimantadine (Flumadine), but is sensitive to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza). Investigations of these cases suggest that on-going human-to-human swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is occurring.

What are the symptoms of swine flu?

Although uncomplicated influenza-like illness (fever, cough or sore throat) has been reported in many cases, mild respiratory illness (nasal congestion, rhinorrhea) without fever and occasional severe disease also has been reported. Other symptoms reported with swine influenza A virus infection include vomiting, diarrhea, myalgia, headache, chills, fatigue, and dyspnea. Conjunctivitis is rare, but has been reported. Severe disease (pneumonia, respiratory failure) and fatal outcomes have been reported with swine influenza A virus infection. The potential for exacerbation of underlying chronic medical conditions or invasive bacterial infection with swine influenza A virus infection should be considered.

What is swine flu, and how is swine flu different from other kinds of flu? How does a person catch swine flu?

Swine flu is a respiratory illness of pigs caused by infection with swine influenza A virus (SIV) that can occasionally affect humans. The disease first came to attention in 1976 with the death of an army recruit from swine flu. Widespread fear then led to an often-criticized mass inoculation program in the United States that resulted in illnesses and deaths.

Symptoms of swine flu are similar to those caused by other influenza viruses. These include fever and chills, coughing, sore throat, and fatigue. Sometimes nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can occur. In the past, pneumonia and potentially fatal respiratory failure have been associated with human swine flu infections. It is not possible to distinguish swine flu from "regular" influenza on the basis of symptoms alone. The symptoms of swine flu can also vary in severity among affected individuals.

Treatment for swine flu involves the use of antiviral medications begun as soon as possible after the onset of symptoms. There is no human vaccine to protect against swine flu, although vaccines are available to be given to pigs to prevent swine flu.

In spring 2009, numerous cases of swine flu affecting humans were reported, first in San Diego, California. From 2005 up to this outbreak, only 12 cases of human swine flu were reported in the U.S., none of which resulted in death. Although many cases of swine influenza A virus infection occur in individuals who have had recent direct contact with pigs or close (within 6 feet) contact with pigs, human-to-human transmission has been documented for the 2009 swine flu outbreak. It is believed that this swine flu virus spreads through airborne particles containing the virus that are released when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It is not possible to get swine flu from eating pork.

When to seek medical care

If you have flu-like symptoms and live in an area in which swine flu has been documented or suspected, contact your health-care practitioner. He or she will be able to advise you as to whether specialized testing for swine flu is advisable. If you develop severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, high fever, confusion or dizziness, severe vomiting, worsening of previous flu symptoms, or chest or abdominal pain, you should not wait to contact your doctor but should seek emergency medical care.

Michael Jackson MoonWalk Secrets

Michael Jackson is one of the greatest dancers of all time, both in
creativity and performance.
His moves have mesmiorised audiences around the globe, as well as inspired a generation of dancers.

On the right is a little outtake from the music video "Scream". Michael jackson dance moves, moonwalk, steps to learn, moonwalker, side step,

The Moonwalk
The Moonwalk was a factor in what set Michael apart and clearly in a league of his own in the realm of superstardom.
Michael did not invent the move, but perfected it and made it his own.

First shown to the world at the Motown 25th Annviverary in a performance of "Billie Jean". Although to the viewing world the performance fantastic, Michael himself was not happy with it, being the perfectionist he is. Nevertheless the performance at Motown 25, especially the performance of "Billie Jean" which featured the Moonwalk, will always be remembered as a magic moment in the history of music entertainment.

Learn to Moonwalk

The moonwalk is a kind of an illusion and takes a lot of practice. Below are the best Moonwalk instructions I could find so why not have some fun and give it a try .

Step 1. Find a pair of low grip shoes you could try to do it in your socks to start off with.

Step 2. Make sure that the ground you use to practise to moonwalk on is also not too grippy, try and find a polished floor.

Step 3. Stand with both feet close to each other, left foot slightly ahead of the right (toes of right should be in line with half the left foot)

Step 4. Now raise the heel of the right foot so that you are standing on the front of the right foot as if you are taking a step. The left foot must stay where it is (take care not to move it).

Step 5. As you lower the heel of the right foot, lean all your weight on the right foot, and drag back the left foot to so that its toes are in line with the heel of the right foot. The left foot's heel must be slightly off the ground at this stage. As you drag back, do not push down on the left foot at all or it will not glide. Make sure as you lower the heel of the right foot (slowly) the left moves at an equal speed. This will need lots of practice to master the right speed.

Step 6. Keep practicing up to the above steps until you can make the movement subconsciously without any difficulty.

Step 7. Once you have mastered that, "kick" outwards with the left foot, but although not quite touching the ground, make it look as if it is touching. Move it out a foot-size's worth away from the toes of the right. No part of the left foot should be raised higher than another.

Step 8. After you make your left foot move so it is at the starting position, lift up the heel once more of the right foot. Make sure the left leg is bent at the knee. Now repeat step 5. Keep practicing until you have the whole thing figured out, and it has been verified by others, and you feel quite comfortable with it. You should eventually get that gravity-defying effect and you'll MoonWalk like the pro.

Step 9. Once you've figured it out for the right leg bending, switch legs, and try the same with the other foot. Lift heel of left, lower left as you glide right back. Left still on the ground, throw out right foot, lift up heel of left foot, and once again drag right foot back as left heel is lowered.

As with any dance move it takes practice, practice, practice. Michael is known to have a lot of natural talent as a dancer. However he also has the total dedication to put in hours and hours of practice.
