Hydroxycut

Hydroxycut is the brand name of some of the top-selling weight loss products in America. Made by Iovate Health Sciences, Hydroxycut products are marketed as:

  • Fat burners
  • Energy enhancers
  • Low carb diet aids
  • Weight loss supplements
  • Water loss supplements

Guarana, Yerba Mate, and Damiana

Guarana, Yerba Mate, and Damiana (GYD) has been shown to help in appetite suppression as it helps you feel fuller than you maybe you really are.

Research

One study1 showed gastric emptying of subjects when taking the GYD compound is prolonged significantly (from around 38 minutes for the placebo group to around 58 minutes for those taking GYD). In addition, those taking GYD lost around 5.1 kg over a 45 day period as opposed to .3 kg for the placebo group.

Conclusion

Unlike many other supposed appetite suppressants (like hoodia), it appears that Guarana, Yerba Mate, and Damiana (or at least the combination of the three) does, in fact, aid in weight loss by making you feel as though you are full. Thumbs up for GYD.

Garcinia Cambogia

Garcinia cambogia’s effectiveness comes from it’s main compound, HCA (hydroxycitric acid). HCA has been shown in clinical studies to suppress appetite and inhibit fat production. Some supporters call it an alternative of caffeine as it does not have the same side effects such as jitters or high blood pressure (like many stimulants do).

Research

HCA is actually backed by a good amount of credible research. In one study of 50 obese women in Thailand, HCA was shown to aid in weight loss by a statistically significant amount. According to the report, the weight loss was “due to a loss of fat storage as evidenced by a significant decrease in triceps skin fold thickness.”1

HCA has also been shown to be particularly effective when combined with chromium and gymnema sylvestre. Subjects showed a suppressed appetite, decreased body weight, increased fat oxidation, and other benefits.2 You will often see a quality diet pill include chromium and gymnema sylvestre to accompany garcinia cambogia to aid in its effectiveness.

Conclusion

Garcinia cambogia is supported by a number of credible studies citing positive results with respect to weight loss. Is Garcinia cambogia (and HCA) the one and only secret to weight loss? No, but it is a great addition to other effective diet pill ingredients. Bottom line: It’s an effective ingredient. Thumbs up for garcinia cambogia.

Chromium

Chromium is claimed by many to significantly aid in weight loss. While I don’t necessarily completely disagree with those claims, some explanation is needed as to why that may not be entirely true. Chromium’s claim to weight loss is through regulation of blood sugar levels. While it has been proven that chromium is needed to regulate your blood sugar, the jury is still out as to whether or not this correlates directly with weight loss (although there are many that do believe so).

Research

There is a large amount of research showing that chromium has a role in insulin regulation. The following are just a few:

Conclusion

Does chromium have an important role in blood sugar regulation? Yes. Has that been proven to directly aid in weight loss? Not yet. While I wouldn’t frown upon a diet pill that contained chromium, I wouldn’t buy it if it was the only active ingredient.

Mega t green tea review

Mega-T Green Tea is “a natural, drug-free dietary supplement formulated to help you achieve your weight loss goals.” In big, bright yellow letters the packaging reads: “LOSE UP TP 20 LBS*.” That little asterisk below says “over a period of time with diet plan.” Hmm…over a period of time. How long of a time? 10 years? And with a diet plan… ok, I’ll buy that because it’s always good to have a good diet plan when trying to lose weight. But here’s my point: I can lose 20 lbs “over a period of time” of 5 years with a “diet plan” without even using Mega-T Green Tea. Poor advertising in my opinion.

Aside from that, Mega-T Green Tea claims to help curb appetite, help burn calories, and help boost energy. How will Mega-T Green Tea stand up to its claims? This review will help answer that question.

Mega-T Green Tea Ingredients

Green Tea - Mega-T Green Tea claims that it “helps curb appetite.” This is entirely false. Green Tea isn’t an appetite suppressant, but it does increase the metabolic rate. Green tea is a very effective diet pill ingredient that has a lot of supporting research.

Chromium - Research is both supportive and unsuportive of chromium’s effectiveness on weight loss. The jury’s still out on this one.

Garcinia Cambogia - This is a quality diet pill ingredient meant to act as an appetite suppressant.

Ingredient Update: The FDA has issued a warning against Hydroxycut-branded products for possibly causing health problems related with the liver. While the FDA has not confirmed it, some believe that the ingredient behind the problems is Hyrdoxycitric Acid, or HCA. HCA is found in Garcinia Cambogia. So until more definitive research is done, we are no longer recommending any products that contain the ingredient Hyrdoxycitric Acid.

Mega-T Green Tea has included a few good ingredients, but not in high enough amounts to be effective.

Mega-T Green Tea’s Marketing

As already mentioned, their marketing seems a bit sloppy (their unclear weight loss promises and the incorrectly stated benefit of green tea). Not that this in and of itself is enough to completely disregard the diet pill, but I think it is somewhat indicative of the company behind the pill. We like that they avoid flashy photos of half dressed people and ridiculous before and after photos.

Mega-T Green Tea’s Price

$6 for 30 capsules which is only a 15 days supply. Thats very cheap, but let me suggest that you’re getting what you pay for. Not much. It’s also apparent that they’ve reduced the prices from around $30. Sales must not be very good.

Mega-T Green Tea’s Guarantee

They have a 6-8 week money back guarantee on all unused bottles of product. Not the best guarantee, but its better than some.

Conclusion

Green tea (the ingredient) is a very effective diet pill ingredient. Mega-T Green Tea, however, isn’t likely to be effective due to the fact that they don’t include very much green tea, nor other ingredients in their formula. (At least they disclosed their formula. Thank you.) Their price is cheap, but for good reason. Their guarantee is decent.

Arizona iced green tea honey

Nothing is more satisfying to me on a hot day to quench my thirst than a tall can of cold Arizona Iced Green Tea Honey and Ginseng. I’m sure you’ve seen the big green can at the store before, and if you are wondering how it tastes - terrific! When I am really thirsty, super sweet drinks, and carbonated colas just never do it for me. I really enjoy iced tea as a thirst quencher when I make it at home because I can monitor the amount of sugar that goes into it. Unfortunately, when the soft drink companies make iced teas for consumers, they try to hook you in with the sweeteners. This stuff only makes you thirstier, and gives you a sugar rush, which you inevitably have to come down from. Then you are even thirstier and, if you are anything like me, a little bit agitated as well. Yep, chronic thirst does that too me.

Next time you are thirsty, try quenching it with the Arizona Iced Tea that comes in the big green oriental looking can. Also, for the best effect, make sure it is nice and chilled. Now just guzzle away until you do not feel thirsty anymore. It is amazing at how good it makes you feel. I think it has something to do with the ginseng and honey. I always feel much better and less thirsty with this drink. Compare it to the others and you’ll see that it really is better.

The ginseng works much better for me and makes me less agitated than the caffeine in colas. Also, the tea is much less harsh on teeth enamel than sodas and other teas like lipton with all that sugar. Green tea is overall a much healthier choice for your body. Hope you enjoy this drink as much as I do!Arizona iced green tea honey is great!!

How to loose weight with green tea

how to loose weight with green teaGood news for people who want to lose weight: A study conducted by the University of Geneva says that green tea stimulates calorie expenditure. It also has a positive effect on burning fat. This was reported by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

Nevertheless, even the green tea doesn’t absolve you from eating reasonably and getting plenty of movement.

Instructions
  1. Understand a little bit about how green tea works. It is said that drinking a couple of cups of green tea each day will aid in increasing energy as it boosts metabolism. Green tea provides high levels of polyphenols which are antioxidants with chemotherapeutic and anti-inflammatory effects. In other words, green tea speeds up your metabolism to burn more calories and slows down the ability of the body to store sugars and fat
  2. Brew a pot of green tea and drink it as a hot beverage in place of regular hot tea or coffee. Let the pot cool down and refrigerate any left-over green tea and drink as iced tea later in the day
  3. Drink some of the new carbonated green teas on the market. Coca Cola has a new one out called "Envigra," which claims to have an immediate weight loss of 30 calories for each can you drink. These come in various flavors such as berry and peach to make them even more appealing and refreshing. Read the labels of the various green teas bottled for consumption to make sure that they do not have a lot of sugar added, which would keep you from losing weight.
  4. Add green tea supplements or green tea extract into your diet. It is always best to talk to your doctor before adding any type of supplements to your diet plan. The supplements and extract are supposed to be able to have the same metabolism boosting effect as drinking green tea.
  5. Chew some green tea gum to get some of the benefits of green tea when you are not able to brew your own or purchase a beverage with green tea. Most of the green tea gums are sugar free and there is supposed to be a minimal weight loss effect by chewing this gum.
Advantages of Drinking Green Tea for Weight Loss:

1) Green tea revs up your metabolism

A study reported on in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that green tea extract resulted in a significant increase in energy expenditure (a metabolism 'boost').

The researchers also concluded that that over a 24-hour period, green tea extract increases the metabolic rate by 4%. These effects are probably due to the high concentrations of catechin polyphenols found in green tea. These work to help intensify levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (the rate at which your body burns calories).

2) Green tea inhibits fat absorption and helps glucose regulation

Experts tell us that the catechins in green tea help to inhibit the movement of glucose into fat cells. Green tea may also act as al glucose regulator. It helps to slow the rise in blood sugar after a meal. This prevents high insulin spikes (lots of insulin promotes fat storage) and the subsequent fat storage.

3) Green tea may help reduce appetite

Scientists at the University of Chicago found that green tea caused rats to lose up to 21 percent of their body weight. Rats injected with a green tea extract lost their appetites and consumed up to 60 percent less food after seven days of daily injections. This may have something to do with the blood sugar regulating effects of green tea.

4) Green tea can help you save calories on your morning brew.

We are a nation hooked on our java. Be it the regular double-cream, double-sugar standard or that mocha, dappa, frappucinno, the calories we ingest just to get our morning caffeine is wreaking havoc on our waistlines.

If you want to save mega-calories in the morning but still get your caffeine fix, try substituting green tea for coffee. Or have a green tea in the afternoon instead of that 700 calorie mocha-chillate dream. You’ll definitely notice the difference in your waistline after a few weeks.

how to loose weight with green teaSo there are 4 ways that green tea can help you with weight loss... But, how much do you actually have to drink to get these amazing metabolism boosting effects?

Experts vary, but the general consensus seems to be that 3 – 5 cups of green tea per day is optimal. Doing this can help you burn an extra 70 calories per day which amounts to 7 pounds per year. Pretty good for not exercising or cutting calories, right?

However, 3 – 5 cups can be a lot for some people, so you might also want to consider green tea extract, green tea pills or a green tea patch.

Disadvantages of Drinking Green Tea For Weight Loss:

#1. Green tea is not a magic bullet

While some people will tell you that green tea is the be-all-end-all for weight loss success, I think the keyword here is balance. You’re not going to eat 5000 calories a day, drink a cup of green tea and make it all go away – it just isn’t going to happen. A healthy diet and increased exercise will go a long way in helping you lose weight and keep it off.

#2. Be cautious of the caffeine if you have health problems

For some people that have heart troubles, high blood pressure or stimulant sensitivities, the caffeine in green tea may not be the best idea. If you’re worried about the caffeine from green tea, try taking green tea extract. Most green tea extract is made from decaffeinated green tea so you can still get the weight loss benefits without the caffeine.

If you think the caffeine may be a problem, make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea for weight loss. Also make sure to consult your doctor before starting green tea if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Bottom Line: Green tea helps you with weight loss by boosting your metabolic rate, regulating your blood sugar, suppressing your appetite and giving you something else besides that high calorie, high sugar coffee beverage to drink in the morning.

Do green tea has more vitamin c than black tea ?

Green tea and black tea both come from the same plant: Camellia sinensis. What's the difference between them? Green tea clearly has more of a healthy image, but why is that? Do green tea has more vitamin c than black tea ?

Is green tea really better than black tea? Scientists have been trying to answer this question for years.

Green tea and black tea are processed differently: green tea is dried over a gentle heat, packaged and sold. Black tea is allowed to oxidize.

During the oxidation process, the phytochemicals in the tea change form. Catechins are replaced by theaflavins and thearubigins. However, the phytochemicals in black tea are still good for you and still beneficial.

For example, theaflavin-3,3'-digallate has antioxidant activity that is comparable to that of EGCG.

In a 2001 study led by JB Paquay , black tea even did a better job of defending against particular free radicals than green tea. Another study, this one led by Sarkar, found that green tea and black tea had equally powerful protective effects against nitric oxide toxicity.

Does that mean that green tea and black tea are equally good for you?

If that is the case, why does epidemiological evidence from Asia seem to show that people who drink green tea get more health benefits than people who drink black tea?

The Answer: Quantity, Not Quality

Green tea and black tea both contain powerful antioxidant compounds.

However, researchers from the Department of Food Science and Technology School of Agricultural Biotechnology at Seoul National University found that green tea contains more tea antioxidants than black tea does.

Black tea has a relatively small percentage of the powerful antioxidants called theaflavins, only about 2 to 6%.

Green tea, on the other hand, contains 30 to 42% of the powerful antioxidants called catechins.

Thus, the researchers found that black tea contained phenols equivalent to 125 mg of gallic acid, while green tea contained phenols at a level equivalent to 165 mg gallic acid.

Also, the researchers found that a serving of green tea had the antioxidative capacity of 436 mg of Vitamin C. A serving of black tea, on the other hand, was only equivalent to 239 mg of Vitamin C.

So, which is better - Do green tea has more vitamin c than black tea ? Both are good for your health, but green tea is better because it has more tea antioxidants cause more vitamin C!

Affected growth treatment with green tea reviews

SOmeone believe growth treatment affect with green tea reviews. Hmm ,that's confious ,might be,... but growth treatment itself can support from green tea extract. I think some article below can explain. Let's read:-)

Growth hormone treatments work better on some children than on others, but judging which candidates will gain those vital inches in height is no simple task. Now researchers have developed a new mathematical model which predicts the optimal dose of growth hormone to treat children who are abnormally short for a wide range of reasons. A new study describes a model that can be more widely applied than previous versions, with greater predictive accuracy.

Jovanna Dahlgren and colleagues at Gothenburg University in Sweden analysed data from 415 short prepubertal children who had undergone GH treatment to develop a model that predicts an individual's response. The team gathered data including the children's length and weight at birth, height before and during treatment and their parents' height. The model was then validated by applying it to a group of 112 different children. The model's accuracy was substantially improved by including data on blood levels of growth hormone and other growth-related hormones, such as insulin-like growth factors and leptin.

Dr Dahlgren states, "The models presented serve as a practical clinical tool for selecting children for successful growth hormone treatment ... and provide the highest prediction accuracy available."

Growth hormone treatments are expensive, involve daily injections, and are associated with the risk of overdose. To assess whether growth hormone treatment would be appropriate for a particular child, an accurate prediction of how much growth would result from the treatment is crucial. This new research will help clinicians determine the children most likely to benefit from treatment, and the most appropriate dose.

Antifibrotic Effects of Green Tea

Several studies have shown that lipid peroxidation stimulates collagen production in fibroblasts and hepatic stellate cells (HSC), and plays an important role in the development of liver fibrosis. Hepatoprotective effects of green tea against carbon tetrachloride, cholestasis and alcohol induced liver fibrosis were reported in many studies. However, the hepatoprotective effect of green tea in dimethylnitrosamine (DMN)-induced models has not been studied.

A research article published on November 7, 2009 in the World Journal of Gastroenterology addresses this question. The research team, led by Prof. Hong-Yon Cho from Korea University examined the protective effect of green tea extract (GT) on hepatic fibrosis in a rat HSC line and in a rat model of DMN-induced hepatic fibrosis.

The results showed GT administration prevented the development of hepatic fibrosis in the rat model of DMN-induced liver fibrosis. These results were confirmed both by liver histology and by quantitative measurement of hepatic hydroxyproline content, a marker of liver collagen deposition. Accordingly, inhibition of proliferation, reduced collagen deposition, and type 1 collagen expression were observed in activated HSC-T6 cells following GT treatment. These results imply that GT reduced the proliferation of activated HSC and down regulated the collagen content and expression of collagen type 1, thereby ameliorating hepatic fibrosis.

The researchers drew a conclusion that green tea may protect liver cells and reduce the deposition of collagen fibers in the liver. Green tea provides a safe and effective strategy for improving hepatic fibrosis.

So is growth treatment with green tea reviews can support each others, hmm ..i still confusing :-)

Another Science Thing EGC Green VS White Tea

"EGCGreen" is a killer of Hay Fever / Pollen Allergies

Green tea has been known for centuries throughout the world for its health benefits and healing powers. Scientists discovered the effective ingredient in green tea is EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) and it helps block the biochemical process involved in producing an allergic response. Having the proper dose of EGCG from green tea in your body will help reduce the symptoms of hay fever and other pollen related allergies.

A clinical study by Professor Tachibana in Japan found that "EGCG" is effective on hay fever symptoms.

Typically, green tea products like hot or cold tea beverages don't contain enough of the active ingredient EGCG to help. In fact, by drinking a green tea beverage you only get about 30% the ingredients.in the tea leaves. To maximize health benefit from EGCG, it is necessary to intake whole green tea leaves and stalks which "EGCG GREEN" contains.

Lee Swanson Research Update

A new study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry shows that green tea may promote bone health. Clinicians believe green tea contains unique chemicals that can stimulate the bone formation process, thereby reducing its breakdown.

Researchers from the Institute of Chinese Medicine and the Chinese University of Hong Kong exposed osteoblasts (cells that form bones) to three main green tea components: epigallocatechin (EGC), gallocatechin (GC) and gallocatechin gallate (GCG).

The team reported that EG

C stimulated the activity of a major enzyme that increased bone growth by up to 79%. Furthermore, EGC “significantly increased” bone mineralization.

The trial also revealed that high amounts of EGC blocked the activity of a type of osteoclast that is responsible for weakening bones.

In terms of overall health, the study affirmed that EGC has a positive dual-effect on bones by promoting osteoblast activity and inhibiting osteoclasts. Thus, green tea may be beneficial for those concerned about osteoporosis or other bone diseases.

Is that great isn't it? But how about white tea? Let's see :-)

White Tea

I'm sure you've heard of black and green tea, but white?

Black tea has been fully fermented during processing, and green has not been fermented at all. Oolong teas are somewhere in the middle. So what is 'white tea'?

Well, just like those other teas, white tea come from the Camellia sinensis plant. But the leaves are picked and harvested before the leaves open fully, when the buds are still covered by fine white hair. Hence the name. White tea is scarcer than the other traditional teas, and quite a bit more expensive.

White tea is similar to green tea, in that it's undergone very little processing and no fermentation. But there is a noticeable difference in taste. Most green teas have a distinctive 'grassy' taste to them, but white tea does not. The flavor is described as light, and sweet. You should steep white tea in water that is below the boiling point.

If you are drinking tea for your health, you may want to consider white teas. There is also considerably less caffeine in white tea than the other varieties (15mg per serving, compared to 40mg for black tea, and 20mg for green). Some studies have also shown that white tea contains more active cancer-fighting antioxidants than green tea. As with all teas, there are many varieties of white tea, with poetic names such as: white peony, golden moon, silver needle and white cloud. White teas are produced mostly in China and Japan, but the Darjeeling region of India also produces some fine white teas.

White Tea Could Keep You Healthy And Looking Young

Next time you’re making a cuppa, new research shows it might be wise to opt for a white tea if you want to reduce your risk of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis or even just age-associated wrinkles. Researchers from Kingston University teamed up with Neal’s Yard Remedies to test the health properties of 21 plant and herb extracts. They discovered all of the plants tested had some potential benefits, but were intrigued to find white tea considerably outperformed all of them.

Professor Declan Naughton, from the School of Life Sciences at Kingston University in South West London, said the research showed white tea had anti-ageing potential and high levels of anti-oxidants which could prevent cancer and heart disease. “We’ve carried out tests to identify plant extracts that protected the structural proteins of the skin, specifically elastin and collagen,” he explained. “Elastin supports the body’s natural elasticity which helps lungs, arteries, ligaments and skin to function. It also helps body tissue to repair when you suffer wounds and stops skin from sagging.” Collagen is a protein found in connective tissues in the body and is important for skin, strength and elasticity, he added.

Results showed white tea prevented the activities of the enzymes which breakdown elastin and collagen which can lead to wrinkles that accompany ageing. These enzymes, along with oxidants, are associated with inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Professor Naughton said: “These enzymes and oxidants are key components of normal body processes. However, in inflammatory conditions, suppressing the activities of these excess components has been the subject of decades of research. We were surprised to find such high activity for the white tea extracts in all five tests that were conducted.”

The researchers were blown away by exactly how well the white tea had performed. “We were testing very small amounts far less than you would find in a drink,” Professor Naughton, one of the country’s leading specialists on inflammation, said. “The early indicators are that white tea reduces the risk of inflammation which is characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis and some cancers as well as wrinkles.”

Eight of the other plants and herbs analysed also helped protect against the breakdown of both elastin and collagen. After white tea, bladderwrack performed well followed by extracts of cleavers, rose, green tea, angelica, anise and pomegranate.

Dr Pauline Hili, Technical Director for Neal’s Yard Remedies, said: “We are really excited by this research as it helps us to remain innovative and at the cutting edge of natural skin care. Celebrating the plants used in the Neal’s Yard Remedies products and understanding their specific actions on the skin is what it is all about. The Kingston University research program helps us to create safe, highly effective and cutting-edge products so it’s an ideal partnership for us.”

"So, if EGC Green VS White Tea which one good? Hmm:-) I think they have same result :-)"

The Good Thing Green Tea Made With Bamboo Clothing

Going planet green around, I get confious about how green tea made with bamboo clothing. Both of them which green tea made with bamboo clothing were environment originally. That's good news when people busy about how to going planet green. Which one good?

What is Green Tea and how is it made ?

The tea is a product of a plant known as C. sinensis, a native of Southeast Asia. The tea brewed from the dried leaves of this plant has been drunk in China since perhaps the 28th century BC. It was first brought to Europe by the Dutch in the early 17th century AD.
Leaf buds and young leaves are u
sed in making tea, the age of the leaves determining the taste and name of the particular commercial variety. After picking, the leaves either are dried immediately and completely to produce green teas, or are partially dried and then allowed to ferment to produce various kinds of black teas. After being sorted, all grades of tea are packed in foil-lined chests to prevent the absorption of unpleasant odors or the loss of aroma during shipment. In China, tea is sometimes allowed to absorb the scent from various flowers particularly Jasmine.

Tea is an aromatic stimulant, containing various polyphenols, essential oils, and caffeine. The concentration of caffeine in tea ranges from 2.5 to 4.5 percent, in contrast to an average concentration of about 1.5 percent in coffee.

Green Tea, is abundantly grown in the foothills of the mighty Himalayas. This belt grows the best teas in the world.

Scientists from Japan Cancer Institute have been successful in identifying a substance in Green Tea called Catechins or Polyphenols, which act as strong antioxidants. They are in a position to clinically establish the old adage that "tea is a miraculous medicine for the mantainance of health

Clothing made from bamboo?

At first it's hard to picture... until you feel bamboo clothing for the first time. As soft as silk, and with a similar drape, organic bamboo fabric is perfect for clothing, towels and sheets.

Bamboo clothing is naturally antibacterial, and when produced organically is virtually allergen-free. A super absorbent fiber, bamboo wicks away moisture from the skin, making it one of the most comfortable fabrics around.

But bamboo clothing doesn't just feel great on your skin-- it's also a great choice for the environment. Bamboo is one of the most sustainable resources our planet has to offer; it's an extremely rapid grower, and it is grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides. And because bamboo forests are so dense, they produce up to 40% more oxygen than a typcial hardwood forest! Bamboo is also cruelty-free, so it's perfect for vegetarians or vegans in search of high quality, luxurious alternatives to clothing made from cashmere, silk or wool.

Drink Green Tea For Healthy Teeth And Gums

ScienceDaily (Mar. 13, 2009) — With origins dating back over 4,000 years, green tea has long been a popular beverage in Asian culture, and is increasingly gaining popularity in the United States. And while ancient Chinese and Japanese medicine believed green tea consumption could cure disease and heal wounds, recent scientific studies are beginning to establish the potential health benefits of drinking green tea, especially in weight loss, heart health, and cancer prevention.

A study recently published in the Journal of Periodontology, uncovered yet another benefit of green tea consumption. Researchers found that routine intake of green tea may also help promote healthy teeth and gums. The study analyzed the periodontal health of 940 men, and found that those who regularly drank green tea had superior periodontal health than subjects that consumed less green tea.

"It has been long speculated that green tea possesses a host of health benefits," said study author Dr. Yoshihiro Shimazaki of Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. "And since many of us enjoy green tea on a regular basis, my colleagues and I were eager to investigate the impact of green tea consumption on periodontal health, especially considering the escalating emphasis on the connection between periodontal health and overall health."

Male participants aged 49 through 59 were examined on three indicators of periodontal disease: periodontal pocket depth (PD), clinical attachment loss (CAL) of gum tissue, and bleeding on probing (BOP) of the gum tissue. Researchers observed that for every one cup of green tea consumed per day, there was a decrease in all three indicators, therefore signifying a lower instance of periodontal disease in those subjects who regularly drank green tea.

Green tea's ability to help reduce symptoms of periodontal disease may be due to the presence of the antioxidant catechin. Previous research has demonstrated antioxidants' ability to reduce inflammation in the body, and the indicators of periodontal disease measured in this study, PD, CAL and BOP, suggest the existence of an inflammatory response to periodontal bacteria in the mouth. By interfering with the body's inflammatory response to periodontal bacteria, green tea may actually help promote periodontal health, and ward off further disease. Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the gums and bone supporting the teeth, and has been associated with the progression of other diseases such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

"Periodontists believe that maintaining healthy gums is absolutely critical to maintaining a healthy body," says Dr. David Cochran, DDS, PhD, President of the AAP and Chair of the Department of Periodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. "That is why it is so important to find simple ways to boost periodontal health, such as regularly drinking green tea – something already known to possess certain health-related benefits."

How to Make Pineapple Green Tea Punch

This time I will expose How to Make Pineapple Green Tea Punch, I get this article from other site but it really make me curious about the recipe.

I was thinking recently that I love fruity punches, especially in the summer. Homemade is always best, too. I just don't like the flavor of the store-bought fruit punch, besides, punch usually has a ton of sugar.

I like to mix tea in with fruit juice to create punch blends. For one thing, it adds valuable antioxidants. Also, it doesn't have any calories which drives down the calorie count of a glass of punch. So, I created this recipe to be full in flavor and lower in calories.

Things You'll Need:

  • 6 cups water
  • 2 green tea bags
  • 4 cups pineapple juice
  • Two bottles ginger beer
  • One orange, sliced thin
  • Ice

Instructions
1.Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Turn off the heat. Add tea bags and steep for 8 minutes.

2.Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool down for about 30 minutes.

3.Fill the punch bowl with ice and add the green tea. Then add the rest of the ingredients and stir.

4.You can also freeze some pineapple juice in ice cube trays and add those at the end. It will prevent the punch from getting watered down as the ice melts.

Tips & Warnings You can try other juices instead of pineapple. Apricot nectar, peach nectar and even orange juice would be great in this recipe. Also try combining juices.

What green tea can and cannot do for your skin.

Skin benefits of green tea

There have been a number of encouraging studies of skin benefits of green tea. Animal studies showed protection from skin cancer. Both animal and human studies have credibly demonstrated that topical green tea formulations reduce sun damage. Green tea appears to exert sun damage protection by quenching free radicals and reducing inflammation rather than by blocking UV rays. Therefore, green tea may synergistically enhance sun protection when used in addition to a sunscreen.

A small study showed benefits of 2% polyphenone (via a particular type of green tea extract) in papulopustular rosacea. In particular, a significant reduction in inflammatory lesion was reported compared to placebo.

What about wrinkles, skin sag and other signs of aging? Can green tea help? Considering their well-documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, topical green tea polyphenols are likely to slow down the development of some signs of aging. Whether green tea can actually diminish wrinkles and skin sag is far more uncertain. In a 2005 study, forty women with moderate photoaging were randomized to either a combination regimen of 10% green tea cream and 300 mg twice-daily green tea oral supplementation or a placebo regimen for 8 weeks. No significant differences in clinical grading were found between the green tea-treated and placebo groups. On the other hand, histologic grading of skin biopsies did show significant improvement in the elastic tissue content of treated specimens. More human studies are needed to not only determine the scope of anti-aging skin benefits of green tea but also to work out the optimal usage.

How to use green tea in your skin care

Some uncertainty regarding the extent of green tea benefits and its optimal usage is likely to remain for years to come. Yet, if you wish to include green tea in your skin care today, there are sensible ways to go about it.

In particular, since sun protection benefits of green tea are particularly well documented, it could make sense to apply a green tea formula under your sunscreen when venturing into the sun. It is best to combine green tea with zinc oxide-based sunscreens because zinc oxide is chemically inert and should not react with green tea (which some chemical sunscreens might do, especially in sunlight).

It may also be useful to incorporate green tea into your skin maintenance routine to possibly slow down skin aging. However, simply buying a green tea cream may not necessarily be the best way to go. Like most other antioxidants, green tea polyphenols are oxidized and lose their activity when exposed to air. Whether commercial green tea creams retain the activity is unclear and may vary widely from product to product.

If you are willing to put in a bit of extra effort, here is some alternatives. Freeze freshly brewed green tea as ice cubes and use them as a toner. (Just don't apply ice cubes to your skin right out of the freezer, let them start thawing first or you may get a freeze burn.) Or you can make your own fresh green tea cream using standardized extract as an active ingredient
